Tragic Targets

Two stories in the press this week have highlighted two significant events that have been caused by the target culture. In one, the nurse of the Year resigns because she can no longer do her job. In the other, the most devastating tragedy is where Government Targets meant ticking boxes took precedence over saving lives. We attach here the ensuing debate in Parliament following the news of the deaths in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
