RNIB's 'Right to Read'
28/03/2007
A children's lobby of Parliament will takes place today in support of the RNIB's 'Right to read' campaign as only 4% of books are produced in other formats. This campaign was begun to fight for on access to textbooks for everyone who is blind and or partially sighted. Research commissioned by RNIB last year showed that a 96 per cent of books were not available in large print, audio or braille.
Added to this, the few books that are produced in accessible formats are rarely available at the same time as the print versions and are often more expensive.
